Today is March 17th, 2009 (Happy St. Patty's day!). Yesterday I called a guy on a car he had parked in the "Lemon Lot" on base. We met at the lot and he let me test drive his car, it's a 1994 Fiat Coupe'. It's a little red sports car that actually seats 4! Comfortably! It's in pretty great shape, the interior is in really good condition, the leather (pleather maybe?) seats are in perfect shape. And for being 15 years old, it only has about 100K miles on it. Plus it's the turbo edition (that's my favorite part :-) and the turbo model is a little more rare.)
Well after the test drive we told him we'd call him the next day, I called him during lunch today and offered a little less than he was asking for. And he accepted! So Kara and I met him after work, we paid him the money, and we went for a cruise :-) we got just a little lost. We were probably about 30 miles away from base before we started to figure out where to go (thank you GPS navigation.) It's a fun little car though. And it's way nice to not be limited to the commissary and the BX... Don't get me wrong, they're great, but we've been here for 12 days. and without a car, that's all that is close and on base.
So for dinner tonight, we called Christina, picked her up and headed to Maniago. After getting lost and then finding ourselves again, we went to a little place down a small alley that had these things called "Kabobs." They're like Gyro's if you know what they are. then to finish off our night we went and got gelato. Probably the best gelato I've had so far.
Anyway... we're gonna head off to bed. I'm finally done in-processing for the most part and can get to real work.
So I'll leave you with pictures of our new car.
We love you all and take care!
Harris and Kara

The paint job has seen better days, the clear coat is a little faded in spots, but it's not anything some good polish and a little elbow grease can't get out.

The red paint in the interior is straight from the factory. it's really neat, it stretches onto the doors and into the back of the car. And yes it's a 5 speed, I wouldn't have it any other way ;-)
pretty sweet ride:c) i am happy for you guys and glad you are having a good time...
ReplyDeleteBut can Kara drive a 5 speed?
ReplyDeleteWe shipped Kara's car over here and it will be here in the next couple weeks
