june 2009 (I know it's not june anymore)

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long! But I do have some new pictures and news for you. So a few weeks ago Harris had a family day off of work so we decided to take the day and go to Venice. It was really entertaining. I figured that we could drive around the city then find somewhere to eat then drive back. Well, when they say that Venice was built on water they mean it. I was amazed that instead of roads they had canals. Harris and I parked at the big parking garage and walked the mile or so to the city, then we walked around and took tons of pictures of the beautiful cathedrals and we walked around for a while. We did find a beautiful place to eat and afterwords we walked around the shops and such for a while. Before we knew it we had been there for like 6 hours and we were completely lost! We probably walked for like 20 more minutes until we found a shop selling maps and with the help of the shop lady and a few random Italians that knew no English we found our way out and we made it home safe and sound:) Needless to say we walked a lot that day. I was so sore the next day.

Well not much else has been going on since then. We have found our way to the mall near Pordenone which was small but I was happy to have found a mall because I miss practically living at the mall when I worked for Claire's. We also continue to make new friends and we've enjoyed going to our favorite restaurant San Giorgio aka "spaghetti house". We go there almost every weekend with different friends, the waiter is getting to know us so well that last weekend he even gave us each a very cool flower (see picture below it's called the "Passion Flower" it grows outside of the restaurant).

We had an amazing 4th of July, but I didn't get pictures so sorry!!! We went to the house of a girl that Harris works with named Vikki. She had a BBQ and we hung out there all day. It was a really nice day, just when it was getting too hot outside it would rain. And when it was raining just a bit too much it would clear up and get hot enough that we wanted it to rain again. That night though it did end up raining a lot and there was a huge thunder and lightning storm. I thought it was just gods way of giving us natural fireworks because the lightning lit up the sky for a few hours. We did try to get fireworks form the store that day because we knew of one store that was selling them, but we tried to go during the Italian reposo (reposo is the 3-4 hour lunch break that Italians take every day. If you have to go to the store then you are just out of luck) so the store was closed :( but oh well it still was a fun day!

Oh I almost forgot! In between the BX and the Commissary they have this hall way where Italians can sell their goods. I've bought a painting from a lady that sells her paintings there occasionally. Well this past week a guy was there selling rugs:) So we bought one for our bedroom, a runner for the hall and a rug for the living room. they are all handmade Italian rugs and I'm so happy we got them. we ended up getting a really good deal because the guy was going out of business and just needed to sell them all. The rug for the bedroom is my favorite I think probably because the white part is silk:)

Well I think that's about it. Harris will be happy that I finally updated the website. He's at work and for the most part enjoying it. He's been working dispatch and enjoying that he gets to work with cool people like Vikki.

Well have a wonderful day and I hope everyone is well. We love you all and miss you all like crazy!! Hopefully we'll get to see you soon:)

love ya
